What is the Jason Robert Brown Musical Festival?

The Last Five Years

April 6, 7, 8

Jason Robert Brown’s Drama Desk winner, The Last Five Years, has been translated into a handful of languages and was named one of TIME Magazine‘s ten best shows of 2001. An emotionally powerful and intimate musical about two New Yorkers in their twenties who fall in and out of love over the course of five years, the show’s unconventional structure consists of Cathy, the woman, telling her story backwards while Jamie, the man, tells his story chronologically; the two characters only meet once, at their wedding in the middle of the show.

The JRB Cabaret

April 13, 14, 15

Jason Robert Brown has been hailed as “one of Broadway’s smartest and most sophisticated songwriters since Stephen Sondheim” (Philadelphia Inquirer), In addition to the musicals we will be performing in the festival, Brown has written Parade, 13, Honeymoon in Vegas, and The Bridges of Madison County, amongst contributing ot others. Join us as we weave songs from his many shows, solo albums, and lesser known contributions to create a unique and powerful story of love, loss, and finding your way.

Songs for a New World

April 20, 21, 22

It’s about one moment. It’s about hitting the wall and having to make a choice… or take a stand… or turn around and go back. These are the stories and characters of today, the Songs for a New World. Jason Robert Brown transports his audience through time and space to meet a startling array of characters. This moving collection of powerful songs examines life, love and the choices that we make through a driving, exquisitely crafted score that runs the gamut of today’s popular music.
