Outvisible is proud to offer several opportunities for playwrights…
Please note we do not accept unsolicited script submissions. Any scripts must be submitted through the Detroit New Works Festival’s open call for scripts, which usually happens in late fall.
The Detroit New Works Festival aims to showcase playwrights, promote new plays and musicals which focus on the subjects of equality and diversity, mental health, and/or social issues, and encourage community in the theatrical process.
Through the DNWF, Outvisible Theatre Company encourages local and non-local playwrights, composers, and lyricists to submit their work for the opportunity to be read and discussed at the festival and potentially go on to be produced as a part of a future season.
The Outvisible New Voices Festival promotes creative writing opportunities for middle and high school students looking to strengthen and develop their voice as well as provide professional opportunities within the theatre.
Students in grades 7-12 are eligible to submit a short play between 20-30 pages in length. Ten semifinalists will be chosen to be a part of the festival, where they will all learn how scripts are developed and how professional rehearsals are conducted, and three finalists will have their script workshopped as well as directed and read by a team of professionals from the Detroit area.
Calling season sponsors and advertisers!
It is impossible for most arts organizations to exist without the support of their community. At Outvisible, ticket sales only account for fraction of our operating expenses. By becoming a sponsor or advertiser for our 2017-18 season or any show within our season, you will greatly impact our ability to offer high quality programming.
